Seattle (Immediate thoughts)
Pittsburgh Steeler fans, we still draw breath! Your Pittsburgh Steelers went to the hostilest of hostile environments and came away with a huge W. The Steelers defeated the Seahawks 30-23 behind a strong performance up front by the O line. There will inevitably be a TON of talk this week about Mason and the QB position; however, it really shouldn’t be the focus. This was another strong team win. The Steelers offensive lineman, receivers, QB, and most importantly running backs played exceptionally well today. The Steelers ran for 205 yards, 3 TDs, and no turnovers. This was a dominant day and the talk this week should be on how this team is playing, as a whole, so much better than they were playing. From the TV broadcast, the Steelers controlled the line of scrimmage, made the pile “fall forward,” and protected Mason Rudolph. This, coupled with the “bend don’t break” defense that got a key turnover in the fourth quarter, provided a good road win.
So here we are: 9-7 with a chance to be 10-7 and 5-1 in the toughest division in football. The Steelers need a win and help in the form of Jacksonville loss OR Buffalo Loss OR Indianapolis tie with Houston. There are a few other weirder scenarios involving a Steeler loss, but those are even less likely than some of the others. The Steelers need to win, and that will happen on Saturday night at 430. Then the waiting game will commence through Sunday afternoon all the way until Sunday night when Buffalo goes to Miami. The Dolphins have not looked good over the last several weeks and neither has Tennessee. But as I have been saying on the podcast and in general, you have to play the games. The Cardinals beat the Eagles today (Arizona has wins against Dallas, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia). The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again playing meaningful football games all the way until the last game of the season.
